it's the little things...

Yesterday one of my students told me he wanted to be a middle school teacher because he likes me so much. And I make him work hard, too.

The students in both the beginner and intermediate ESL rooms are knocking my socks off daily. I cannot tell you how nice it is to enter each classroom. The enthusiasm is incredible. My reading groups in the beginner room are cycling through books written by Tommie dePaola and my intermediate group is reading about Robin Hood. Never a dull moment :)

I am designing an integrated unit for March which will focus on community, and at this point my plan is to begin by focusing on Maslow's hierarchy of human needs. I am not yet sure if I will attempt a simulation, but I think the kinesthetic approach would be a good scaffold.
